Personal Care and Cleaning Products

The decisions we all make with regard to the personal care and cleaning products we use have an enormous affect on both our health and that of the planet as a whole. Allergies, sensitivities, asthma and learning difficulties are just some of the ailments linked to chemicals in our everyday products.

The amount and strength of various synthetic chemicals in everyday products has increased dramatically over the last 40 years and this coincides with the large increase in previously mentioned health conditions.

Heart disease, cancer and asthma have become accepted as a normal part of our everyday lives and it doesn’t and shouldn’t be this way.
Labelling laws make it almost impossible for the average person to actually know what is in the products they buy.

Cleaning products, for example, do not even have to state their ingredients and personal care product ingredients can be chemically processed in so many different ways.

Building Biologists examine the integrity of all ingredients in a product and can recommend truly ethical and beneficial options. These products are now easily obtainable and can be delivered to your door and so it is easy for anyone to make the right choices and changes, ensuring the health of both the environment and everyone using the products.

Telephone towers and wireless technology (electrosmog)

The German environment ministry has recently (September 2007) warned citizens to minimise their exposure to wireless technology.
This is the first time that a government has spoken out so strongly against the wireless revolution.

Telephone towers, cordless phones (DECT), baby monitors and wireless internet are the largest contributors to electromagnetic radiation (EMR) in homes and businesses today.

They have been shown to cause insomnia, short term memory loss, headaches and controversially tumours and various types of cancer.
Both Austria and Germany are considering removing wireless networks in schools as children are even more susceptible to EMR than adults.

Building Biologists can measure EMR levels and help to introduce solutions to prevent any potential long term health effects. Simply having corded phones and internet will help dramatically. Shielding paint, curtain fabric and window film is now easily obtained and applied.

Air

We breathe in approximately 8,500 litres of air per day and around 98% of the particles in the air are not visible to the naked eye.
Dry eyes, headaches, fatigue and more seriously various lung cancers can very often be linked back to poor indoor air quality.
Indoor air is on average up to 6 times more polluted than outdoor air.

Simple solutions like opening windows, sensible cleaning methods, plenty of indoor plants and good building design will improve the quality of the air you breathe and give a break to your body having to deal with an onslaught of pollutants every day.
