Bachelor of Environmental Science (Marine Biology) provides a unique opportunity to study cool water marine biology in a marine environment that has some of the highest biological diversity in Australia. Marine biologists take an interdisciplinary approach to studying how marine organisms interact with their living and non-living environments and how marine ecosystems work. They also consider the impacts of humans on the marine environment and how marine resources can be managed.
Bachelor of Environmental Science (Environmental Management) provides students with a broad-based knowledge of the functioning and management of the complex interactions between the biological, physical, social, economic and political worlds. Environmental managers work with natural, rural and urban systems and their natural and human communities. They monitor environmental health, to guard against the degrading impacts of overuse and waste disposal, planning activities and developing policy to achieve the best outcomes for the environment and for society. Graduates will gain the knowledge and skills to be effective managers of all facets of our natural environment. Students can also undertake an elective course of study in Park Management.
Bachelor of Environmental Science (Wildlife and Conservation Biology) provides theoretical and practical expertise in a range of discipline areas, such as wildlife ecology, landscape and vegetation management, biodiversity and conservation, animal biology and park management. Content will focus on ‘real-world’ problem-solving and applied solutions to wildlife and conservation issues. Students will graduate from the course with strong theoretical and discipline-specific skills and will be immediately able to make a contribution in a highly dynamic field of employment. The course will offer a unique combination of study options. It will also give students professional experience, through experiential learning options, such as working with active researchers, undertaking compulsory internships with professional employment organisations such as Parks Victoria and the Department of Sustainability and Environment as well as the opportunity to be mentored by environment professionals in resume development and interview techniques. Student can also undertake an elective course of study in Park Management.

Graduates will contribute in a professional capacity to the study and management of the freshwater environment in Australia and overseas. The course provides students with knowledge, understanding and skills in the interdisciplinary study of a range of discipline areas, such as freshwater biology and ecology, land-water interactions, impacts of humans on water and waterway management. Students can undertake an elective course of study in aquaculture, accessing cutting-edge facilities at the Warrnambool campus and can gain professional experience through experiential learning options, such as working with active researchers, undertaking compulsory internships with professional employment organisations (such as Catchment Management Authorities) as well as the opportunity to be mentored by professionals in the field in resume development and interview techniques.
The Graduate Certificate of Environmental Management and Master of Environmental Management aim to blend advanced scientific training with studies in management and policy. This is critical for employment in the rapidly expanding environmental sector. Offering a flexible program, units may be taken from both the Faculty of Science and Technology and other faculties, including Arts, and Business and Law. Students will be able to structure a course of study offering the best opportunity to gain highly focused skills in their chosen area of the environment employment field. The course is also designed to meet employer demand for graduates with a thorough understanding of scientific and management issues pertinent to both land and marine-based environmental management planning.
