Our supplier is a handmade paper product cooperative which specialises in producing handmade paper and paper products. The basic raw materials are waste paper, waste cotton fabrics from garment industries and agriculture waste like banana fibre, straw and water hyacinth. Paper is lifted manually and dried in sunlight. Later on, paper is converted into paper products such as paper bags, boxes, note books, photo albums, tags, wrapping paper, paper string and many other paper products.

There are 125 cooperative members. 13 are engaged in management and the rest are in production. 60% of the total team are women. Most of the people are from local villages, who have limited opportunities.

The work has provided working opportunities for them. As a result, there is a regular income for all. Such income is very meaningful as it provides not only basic support like food and housing but also opportunities for education for their children.

They allocate 40% of their profit to their sister organisation. This organisation is involved in girls' education, providing scholarships for more than 125 girls, physically supporting five schools, active in AIDS awareness and environmental awareness. They are registered with IFAT, The International Fair Trade Association.

Our business relationship with them provides essential foreign income. By supporting us, you are supporting them in their endeavours to support themselves and their community and improve educational opportunities for their young.
