Our practice specialises in energy-efficient architectural solutions for residential and small commercial projects. We understand that a building affects the quality of life of its users on conscious and subconscious levels, contributing to the health, creativity and well-being of the occupants. Over the years, we have gained expertise in designing buildings that maximise comfort and style, as well as eco practicality.

A healthy, responsive building is achieved through sound planning, maximising solar gain, natural light, natural ventilation, colour and form. We examine water and energy-management solutions, benefiting the natural environment as well as providing cost savings. Solutions for photovoltaic arrays, solar hot water, storm water reuse and grey water recycling are other possibilities in the scope of a project.

Ian Sercombe Architect consists of a team of architects and interior designers who specialise in healthy energy efficient building projects. We specialise in the use of appropriate building materials for the benefit of occupants and environment, and are a member of the Earth Building Association of Australia (EBAA). We specialise in sustainable house and building design that maximises energy efficiency, thermal comfort and minimises water use, using products of low toxicity. Our expertise can accommodate a wide range of individual design features, to produce a plan that suits individual taste, harmonises with the environment, and meets all planning requirements.
