Solar Heat Pumps Where solar panels on the roof are not an option, the heat pump is an energy efficient alternative. A heat pump operates like a refrigerator only in reverse; transferring the heat in the surrounding air to the stored water. The heat pump's use of refrigeration technology makes it extremely energy efficient - comparable to a solar water heater but without the need for collector panels - using approximately one third the energy of a conventional electric water heater.  Our heat pumps qualify for Small-scale Technology Certificates and State and Federal Government rebates.  These incentives make the systems very affordable.
