Biodegradeable Hand Cleaner
13, November 2007
When you hear the words ’environmental initiatives’ you can almost guarentee the words ’hand cleaner’ don’t come to mind. We have been using a brand name hand cleaner since the conception of our business and it has always excelled in it’s simple task. For many companies that would be enough. But for us it had one major flaw. It’s efficiency was largely due to an artificial porous material in the cleaning substance. Similar to the material you can find in some face cleaners and body washes commonly referred to as ’exfoliating beads’. The problem is, being artificial and non-biodegradable, these beads are washed down the drain with a long and destructive life ahead.
Our determination to eliminate our impact on the environment saw us searching for a replacement. We wanted a green hand cleaner and we found one. An environmental hand cleaner that uses a completely bio-degradable porous plant substance in replacement of the artificial beads. It works just as good, if not better than the enviro-nasty cleaner and a few quick calculations revealed the costs are almost identical to the old one.
Which brings me to a topic of conversation that will be further explored in an up and coming blog article; Are environmental substitutes always more expensive and lesser in quality then their artificially engineered counterparts? I know it’s definitely not the case with our products (some of our environmental initiatives actually reduce costs). Check back soon.
