Origin Launches Green Initiative To Celebrate Milestone

A team of volunteers will be busy planting trees on the banks of at Eprapah Creek, South East of Brisbane, this Saturday, 7 March as part of the Origin ‘Half a Million Helping Hands’ community program.

Eprapah Creek discharges into the sensitive aquatic environment of the Moreton Bay Marine Park. Consequently, the mouth of the creek is classified as a Habitat Zone.

This year, Origin will reach a milestone that marks half a million green energy customer accounts – which includes green electricity, gas and LPG accounts. To celebrate and demonstrate its commitment to giving back to the environment, more than half a million square metres of land surrounding Queensland’s Moreton Bay and iconic Great Barrier Reef will receive a helping hand.

Origin has initiated the ‘Half a Million Helping Hands’ community program in conjunction with Conservation Volunteers Australia to thank and celebrate the 500,000 customers that are reducing their environmental impact by choosing green energy in 2009.
