Healthy treat will boost fish consumption in children New Omega 3 Jelly Fish are the solution to fussy eaters

Australian parents are becoming aware of the benefits to their children of eating fish. Fish oil is rich in the Omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, essential building blocks for healthy brain development.

Scientific studies and anecdotal evidence agree: these fatty acids play a vital role in improving learning and behaviour in children of all ages.

In a recent trial published in the Nutrition Journal in 2007, children suffering from ADHD were given high dose fish oil supplements. After 8 weeks, the children’s behaviour was much improved in areas such as inattention and hyperactivity. Other parents who have tried fish oil supplements report their child’s reading, comprehension and concentration in class are noticeably better.

Australian dietary guidelines recommend 2-3 serves of fish or seafood each week.

Many parents, however, find following these guidelines impossible. Many children simply do not like the taste of fish and won’t eat it. Parents are also concerned about smaller children swallowing fish bones.

An Australian health food company, Melrose Health, has solved this problem for Australian families. Melrose’s breakthrough new product, Omega-3 Jelly Fish, provides all the goodness of fish oil in a citrus-flavoured jelly lolly that children will love.

Melrose naturopath Warren Morey said, ‘A new technology called encapsulated powder is the secret to Omega-3 Jelly Fish. This specially encapsulated fish oil means children can receive all the brain benefits of fish oil, without the fishy taste.’

2 Omega-3 Jelly Fish per day provide children with 48mg of EPA and 40mg of DHA.

Melrose Omega-3 Jelly Fish in packs of 200g are available from selected health food stores and pharmacies. RRP $8.50 For stockists phone 1800 632 254 or visit www.melrosehealth.com.au.
