Community Gardens
We are hoping to establish some community plots for sharing produce with groups such as
Koha cafe, so if you are able to donate long term plants such as rhubarb, vines, berries and so on,
we would welcome them.
The plans for fencing around the Community Gardens are under way thanks to Tammy and
Roberta. They have been sourcing the materials (recycled where possible) and when it is all ready
we will let you know. If you are interested in coming along to learn about fencing construction this
will be a good opportunity. We are looking for three gates (two single and one double) so if you
have any hanging around your place which could be donated they would be appreciated.
Site report for March
Check out the improvements around the Art room due
mainly to the hard work of the Garden
Project team – the concrete apron now allows two extra parking spaces. A herbal tea garden was made
possible in the most part by donated plants from Tammy Milton (thank you). And to the Father
Christmas who hitched up water hose to the tank on the corner of the art room THANKS!!
What a difference the artists' group are making rendering the outside of the building. They are
sculpting a giant serpent decorated with mosaic to wind around two sides of the building. Whilst there is
still ongoing work in this area, the removal of the rubbish and old water tank etc makes for a more
welcoming space. Am pleased to advise that the back veranda laser lite sheeting has been replaced, and
the roof has been fixed over the dining room so no more leaks. The crescent shaped area of bricks and
edging outside the back door is being dug out to make it safer. A 22,500 litre water tank, to be situated
on the corner of the farmhouse, has been delivered and will be installed shortly. All in all a productive
month.
